The California National Guard - Always Ready, Always There

Community Relations

COMMUNITY RELATIONS MISSION STATEMENT:

"Through our Community Relations Program the California National Guard strives to educate Californians on the missions and role of the National Guard through active involvement in local events. The California National Guard has units in most cities throughout California and we strive to be a good neighbor and community partner. As a community-based organization, the California National Guard strives to support and participate in events throughout the state that benefit Californians and give them insight into their National Guard. These events, such as parades, ceremonies and air shows are important to us, as they are to the groups and communities that sponsor them.

We encourage event organizers to read through our website and to download the necessary forms to request National Guard community event support. While we strive to support as many requests as possible throughout the year, mission and training requirements always come first and support for approved events may not always be possible. All requests will be reviewed to ensure events are in accordance with National Guard Bureau Public Affairs Manual 360-5 (NGB PAM 360-5), Army Regulation 360-1 (AR 360-1) and Air Force Instruction 35-101 (AFI 35-101).  These regulations exist to ensure that conflicts with civilian enterprise are avoided and National Guard personnel are not placed in inappropriate situations.

The Community Relations Officer for the California National Guard is COL Terry Knight. His assistant is Jessica Cooper. Both can be reached at 916-854-3304. The Fax number is 916-854-3630.

If the California National Guard is unable to support your event, you will be notified as soon as possible. Again, thank you for your interest in the California Army National Guard and we look forward to hearing from you."
