Strategic Planning

Vision: 
The J5 is a qualified, trained, professional staff assisting all elements of the California Military Department achieve and sustain synchronized efforts to meet federal, State, and community missions both now and into the future.
 
Mission: 
The J5 serves as the joint staff element responsible for planning and coordinating the strategic linkage of the department. Coordinates strategic and concept planning for the future, integrating departmental policy with state and federal guidelines, coordinating State and federal legislative plans to support the departmental strategic plan, and linking the department to external agencies, and international partners.

Primary Tasks:
• Provide facilitation, analysis, training, and coordination activities for the Adjutant General and the organizational entities of the California Military Department to ensure synchronization.
• Collect, analyze, and disseminate information to support the organizational development and preparation for current and future requirements
• Conduct analysis on current topics and future initiatives to assist the executive leadership of the department develop directions and policies on emerging issues.
• Support the strategic planning efforts of the department using a variety of techniques and activities geared to supporting the goals of the department.
• Monitor requirements for departmental submissions (excluding divisional requirements) and facilitate timely and synchronized submissions.
• Plan, coordinate, and integrate the State’s participation in the International Security Cooperation Program.
• Develop and Implement integration plans for management and organizational transformation initiatives as directed.
