The mission of the Records Management and Publications Section is to archive and maintain the military records of soldiers who have retired or separated from the California National Guard, maintain the JFHQ Publications Library, and distribute State and Federal publications and forms to requesting ARNG units/organizations.

The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) in St. Louis Missouri maintains records for prior military service regardless of component. We recommend personnel wishing to obtain their records contact the NPRC direct. The NPRC can be assessed on line at: http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/. The mailing address is National Personnel Records Center, Military Personnel Records, 1 Archive Drive, St. Louis, MO. 63138-1002.

Army National Guard:
Records for members of the California Army National Guard currently assigned to a unit/organization may be obtained by contacting the Director, Military Personnel, ATTN:  Officer Personnel for Officer/Warrant Officer records (916) 854-3245.  Director, Military Personnel, ATTN:   Enlisted Personnel for Enlisted records (916) 854-3268.

Air National Guard:
Current members of the California Air National Guard can visit their servicing Military Personnel Flight (MPF) to obtain information from their personnel records.  Retirees and those who have separated may contact the following military personnel technicians at the Headquarters, California Air National Guard, to coordinate retrieval of documents from the State Records Center:

Persons requesting records are advised that some documents may need to be obtained from archives and may not be immediately available.  Additionally, our records may or may not include Active Duty service.
