| The Distributed Learning Classroom is the cornerstone of the Distributed Learning Program. It enables the blending of multiple technologies used to improve the overall readiness of the California National Guard, facilitates the exercise of Command and Control by functioning as a remote command center and provides the opportunity for community shared use as the National Guard preserves its heritage as a community based organization.
The California National Guard currently has fielded 15 classroom locations throughout the state. Each classroom has a local Point of Contact who is responsible for day to day classroom operation and scheduling. These classrooms are connected to each other through a nationwide broadband, terrestrial network of nodes at our state headquarters, multiple other locations, and the primary operations center at the Army National Guard Readiness Center. We expect to grow to a total of 19 classrooms in California with no classroom being further than a one and one half hour drive for any California National Guard member.
Generally speaking, our classrooms consist of a minimum of 12 student workstations, an instructor workstation and:
LCD Projectors
A printer and a fax machine.
Two Video cassette recorders (VCRs) or DVD Recorder
Computer-based and web-based training capabilities ( with internet access from each workstation)
Virtual office capabilities
Telecommunications lines - one T-1, one Primary Rate Interface (PRI), and three Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) analog telephone lines.

Professional Document Camera
Two Way Video Conferencing / Tele-Training Capability
Capabilities to facilitate multiple simultaneous activities
Collaborative work using Microsoft Net Meeting
Two-way Audio Conferencing
Computer-based and web-based training capabilities (w/Internet access)
Productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite
