The California National Guard - Always Ready, Always There

Intel/Ops Case Support

CAPABILITIES:
TFO provides Intelligence Analysts, translators and operational case support personnel from Army and Air National Guard units throughout the state.

Intelligence: Military intelligence analysts are adept at collating information, seeking patterns, and defining additional collection requirements to support apparent trends. Analysts may be used to conduct what the military terms “Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield” or (IPB). This is the process of collating in graphic form, all information pertaining to certain types of operations in a given area. It is a powerful tool for discerning trends, planning operations, and prioritizing resources. Intelligence analyst support can greatly expand the effectiveness of the supported Law Enforcement Agency (LEA).

Operational/Investigative Case Support: Personnel provide assistance to LEAs in developing investigations and cases for prosecution. Activities include, but are not limited to, data input, reviewing, and analyzing collected LEA information. Operational support to LEAs is designed to enhance the effectiveness of the support agency and release law enforcement officers for drug enforcement duties. CDTF personnel will not perform clerical or administrative duties such as, secretarial, receptionist or janitorial.

PLANNING CONSIDERATIONS:
Asset Availability: Military intelligence analysts and operational/investigative case support personnel are available in very limited numbers. Placement is dependent upon available analysts and budget constraints. In general, the highest priority for analysts and operational/investigative case support personnel are given to multi-jurisdictional, multi-agency task forces.

Planning Time and Request Process: Based on available funding, a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks are required to locate and interview suitable candidates. Requests for intelligence analysts should be made during the fiscal year planning conference for the following year. An annual signed written request is required for renewal of support form fiscal year to fiscal year.
