The Contracting Section is primarily responsible for the procurement of services and public works projects (up to $400,000) for the Military Department. The California Public Contract Code contains requirements relating to public advertising, fair and open competition, sole source vendors, and legal review of contracts. Contracts requiring advertising and legal review can take two to three months processing time. To assure that a contract is in place when required advance planning is critical. Documented emergency situations provide far greater flexibility in order to prevent the imminent loss of life or personal injury, severe property damage and/or substantial monetary loss.
